Burnsville High School's first Trapshooting team was organized in 2011.
This sport is gender neutral - both Male and Female students in 6th to 12th grade within the ISD191 district are able to participate.
All levels of experience are welcome! Even if you've never shot trap before, we encourage you to give it a try! There are spots for Novice, Junior Varsity, and Varsity.
WE ARE A NO-CUT TEAM!
The league has a few requirements for participation to ensure safety.
Competition Athletes must successfully complete the league's S.A.F.E. (Student-Athlete Firearm Education) course
Recreational Athletes must complete a Department of Natural Resources sponsored gun safety course.
You must provide your own 20 or 12 gauge shotgun.
You must provide your own eye and ear protection.
We have 2 seasons:
Fall League - September-October
Spring League - March - June
We have 2 shooting days to choose from - one during the week after school and the other on Sunday afternoon. There is also an optional practice day during the week lead by our Team Captains.
Competition is both Team and Individual-based. The individual performance of the athlete contributes to the team's overall performance. All shooting is done at local gun ranges and scores are submitted via the league website and compared to other schools' scores within the conference.
