Q: Who can participate?

A: ANY student in 6th-12th grade who lives within

ISD 191 boundaries.

Q: What if I have never tried trapshooting?

A: All levels of experience are welcome! 

We encourage everyone to try, we are a no-cut team.

There are spots for Novice, Junior Varsity, and Varsity.

Q: What are the safety requirements?

A: Athletes must have either a Firearm Safety Certificate

or successfully complete the league's Student Athlete Firearm Education (S.A.F.E.) course.

Q: What equipment do I need?

A: Trapshooting requires a 20 or 12 gauge shotgun.  If you 

do not have one, the team has one that can be used. You will need to provide your own eye and ear protection.

Q: When is the trapshooting season?

A: There are 2 seasons: Fall (September-October) and Spring (March-June).  Athletes can participate in either or both seasons.

Q: Is trapshooting a team sport?

A: Trapshooting is both Team and Individual-based.  The individual performance of the athlete contributes to the team's overall performance.  

​

Q: Is trapshooting safe?

A: It is the safest sport in high school. With more than 30,000 student athletes that have participated in more than 330,000 events that have shot more than 20 million times, there has been no reported injuries since the League started in 2001.

​

Q: How long has Burnsville had a team?

A: Burnsville High School's first Trapshooting team was organized in 2011.
